Echoes of History
How does the unacceptable become ordinary?
A presentation and conversation about fear, blame, division, normalization, concentrated power, manufactured enemies, and silence.
Speaking & Community Conversations
My programs are built for libraries, community organizations, schools, civic groups, faith communities, book groups, and general audiences.
Three conversations. One question.
I write and speak as the son of Holocaust survivors, but the work is not limited to one family story. It connects history to the choices ordinary people and communities make while change is still happening.
How does the unacceptable become ordinary?
A presentation and conversation about fear, blame, division, normalization, concentrated power, manufactured enemies, and silence.
How does real pain become scapegoating?
A provocative conversation using the extraordinary persistence of Jew-hate as a lens for understanding scapegoating, political tribalism, and redirected anger.
What do we do once we recognize the pattern?
A guided community conversation about changing norms, common ground, courage, silence, responsibility, and action.
Each program stands alone. Together, they form a connected three-part community conversation.
Additional presentations
A presentation built around my parents' Holocaust survival story, the choices and people that made survival possible, and what their story left to the generation that came after them.
A historical presentation intended to help general audiences understand the long sequence of events and competing histories behind a conflict often reduced to present-day arguments.
Programs are adapted to the audience and setting without turning them into partisan debates or conventional book talks.
